So, you’re interested in coaching, and you found your way here. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I appreciate it.
Why Am I A Coach?
In my life, I have tasted success. I have also helped others achieve success. For me, the rewarding feelings in each case were nearly identical if not weighing more so on the helping side. Being able to do that and make a living is a bonus.
What Qualifies Me To Be A Coach?
Let’s get straight to the point. There are no college degrees or fancy certificates hanging on my wall. I don’t have any pieces of paper that say I’ve done anything special to be a coach. What I do have is knowledge, experience and a strong work ethic. I have spent over two decades in leadership roles where coaching employees was part of the job. I read voraciously to expand my knowledge. People that know me have said that I have an iron mindset and an amazing attitude. Some of the areas that I can directly relate to are:
- Business management
- Leadership
- Work-Life Balance
- Marriage (Since 2006)
- Being a stepparent
- Nicotine cessation
- Job Loss
- Being self employed
- Self-Management (Which covers Time Management)
- Starting a business
- Conflict resolution
- Crisis Management
- Health & Fitness
- Fighting Cancer
My Coaching Philosophies
- Coaching is not giving you the answers. Coaching provides questions and suggestions that force the person being coached to come up with solutions on his or her own. Everything gained through coaching is earned by the client and should be able to be continued long term without the coach.
- I believe for coaching to work that the client must want to be coached. This is not mandatory counseling or therapy. You are here because you want to be here. Perhaps you were led here by someone who wants to see you succeed, but ultimately, you are choosing this for you and your growth.
- I believe that the client must be open-minded and understand there is always more to learn.
- I believe that the length of a coaching program can be different for everyone. Some people can get where they need to be from a single session. For others it may take longer.
- I believe that the approach taken for each coaching client will be different depending on the individual. Because of that, it is not possible for me to outline any specific approach. I won’t coach from a script because I do not dictate the coaching sessions: The client does.
How Does It Work?
I offer several options to work with me as your coach. The first thing we will do is have a conversation to determine if coaching is right for you. This is a (up to) one-hour free consultation that can be booked HERE. If you decide that you want to become my client, you have a few different options. You can book individual sessions in 30 or 60 minute increments. You can also book coaching programs of 5 to 20 one-hour sessions. The “Best Practices” of coaching suggests that we meet on the same day, at the same time every week. This program is different. You get to use my calendar to schedule your appointments based on how it fits your schedule. And if you’re not finding any workable time slots on my calendar, you can always call me to see if we can find a mutual time that is not reflected on my calendar, such as very early morning, later in the evening or on a weekend.
The meetings also have a few options. A phone call is the default option, but we can also meet by video chat or in person depending on availability. It’s based on your preference and comfort level. In all cases, I suggest that the session is recorded. That allows the conversation to flow knowing that you don’t need to stop and write everything down. You’ll have the option to refer back to the audio. With each session, I will make the audio available to you within 24 hours following our session.
What Does It Cost?
The cost for coaching can be found on the pages for Coaching Programs and Individual Sessions. I fully understand that you may be seeking coaching because you are going through a professional transition and my not have the ability to pay full price. In that case, you can choose the Customize option where you make a proposal. You fill out a form saying what you are willing to pay for a certain number of sessions. If I can make it work, I will. I’d much rather be helping someone get to the next level than refusing over money.
