About

What 130 Coaching Is All About

130 Coaching is about clearing what’s blocking your momentum — not with cookie-cutter programs, but with real conversations that meet you where you are. We don’t do hype or hacks here. We do clarity, ownership, and forward movement — one real step at a time.

What I've Experienced

I’m not a guru with a 7-step system. I’m someone who’s spent decades in the trenches — leading, learning, failing, winning, and figuring out how people actually grow.

  • Built marketing strategies, led creative teams, and ran multi-layered operations

  • Studied and applied hundreds of books on leadership, mindset, and human behavior

Life Experience (The Real-World Stuff)

  • Quit tobacco after 12 years

  • Stayed married for 19 years (and counting)

  • Worked for others and built businesses of my own

  • Fighting cancer while continuing to move forward

  • Learning how to reset when life knocks you off track

  • Navigating setbacks, change, and uncertainty — and finding ways to grow through them

  • Experiencing wins and losses in sports, business, and relationships — and learning from each one

The Story Behind 130

I grew up in Western Massachusetts, where sports were just part of life. I played hockey, baseball, and soccer, skied every winter, and had a few small wins along the way. A travel team season here. A Little League All Star there. Nothing that defined me. Wrestling was different. I did not arrive as a phenom. My freshman year ended early with an injury. Sophomore year showed some promise, but the real shift happened quietly while watching a teammate have his hand raised at sectionals and realizing what it would actually take to earn that moment.

The next year taught me something I did not know I would need later in life. Discipline. Preparation. Humility. I trained year round, made sacrifices no one saw, dropped to the 130 pound class, and learned what follow through really meant. That season went well, better than expected, but what stuck was not the medals. It was the contrast that followed. My senior year, I coasted. I talked more than I trained. I relied on talent and reputation instead of work. My dad summed it up simply. “You’re a lot of flash, no bang.” He was right. One season looked good on paper. The other built something real. I never forgot the difference.

Nearly three decades later, sitting in a doctor’s office hearing I had a rare, aggressive cancer with no guarantees, that lesson came back fast. After the shock wore off, the 130 version of me showed up again. Not the hype. Not the excuses. Just the work. That is what 130 Coaching is built on. No shortcuts. No motivational noise. Just helping capable people show up with consistency, keep promises to themselves, and do the work required to move forward, especially when it is hard.

To be clear, wrestling did not make me special. It taught me how to prepare when no one is watching and how quickly things unravel when you stop.
